Student and School Programs

The Valley Soil and Water Conservation District is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of natural resource stewards through hands-on education and meaningful field experiences. We partner with local schools—including Alzar School, Heartland High School, Cascade High School, and Mountain Community School—to bring watershed education, soil health lessons, and conservation concepts directly into classrooms. Our interactive presentations and activities help students connect with the natural resources in their own community while developing a deeper understanding of how land and water management impacts Valley County.

Beyond the classroom, we provide students with volunteer and community service opportunities to get directly involved in conservation work. From stream restoration projects to habitat improvement initiatives, students gain real-world experience working alongside conservation professionals on projects that make a tangible difference in our watershed. These hands-on restoration projects not only benefit the environment but also build valuable skills and create lasting connections between young people and the land they live on.

We also support student engagement through competitions and educational events, including natural resource poster contests, speech contests, Envirothon participation, and natural resource camp opportunities. Whether you're an educator looking to enhance your curriculum with conservation topics, a student seeking community service hours, or a school interested in hosting a presentation or partnering on a restoration project, we invite you to reach out. The District is here to support student learning and inspire the conservation leaders of tomorrow.
